Family Centre Services

We offer the following courses/groups:

  • Child Health Drop-in – weigh in sessions with health professionals.
  • Community Gardening and Social Group – gardening group for all ages (no experience needed).
  • Family Advice Sessions – one to one sessions.
  • Freedom – course and support group.
  • Little Chatterboxes – communications group.
  • Parenting Puzzle – parenting course.
  • SEND Advice Sessions – for children with additional needs and disabilities.
  • SENDsory Play – a sensory play session for children with additional needs from birth to 5.
  • Welcome to the World – expecting/new parents course.
  • Wriggles & Giggles – new parent group for babies up to 6 months.

This is a drop in clinic on Monday afternoons at The Spinney (GU2 8YD) from 12.30pm – 2.30pm and on Tuesday mornings at Hazel Avenue (GU1 1NR) from 10am – 12pm.

Details of health visitor services at the Spinney and Hazel Avenue sites can be confirmed by accessing the CSH website/children and families section, which always gives the most current information.

Join us on the first Tuesday of every month 10.30am – 12.00pm at the Community Garden, Guildford Nursery School and Family Centre, Hazel Avenue, GU1 1NR.

Gardening and being outdoors is a good way to keep your mind and body active, as well as boosting your happiness levels. Come along to the Community Gardening Group to help maintain the beautiful Hazel Avenue site. Absolutely no gardening experience needed and ALL ages welcome!

You’ll meet new people, have some fun and hopefully leave feeling calm and stress-free. We’ll be there, whatever the weather!

A 4 week course for you and your child to help develop your child’s use of language. Priority will be given to children identified with speech and language communication needs (by referral). Enquire by calling 01483 510570.

The Nurturing Programme helps parents and carers deal with the challenges of family life to assist in creating a calmer, happier environment. A tried and tested programme, it helps us think about what we do, why we do it and how it makes us feel.

We offer a 4 week course and a 10 week course.

Welcome to the World is a chance to meet other parents over a number of weekly sessions to think about and discuss the transition into parenting.  We cover issues that may be challenging for the new mother and father.
